Research and Development
At LMF, we are convinced that fundamental research and steady improvement of established designs are the key in driving compression innovation. With over 175 years of engineering history and 60 years in the field of reciprocating compressors, LMF has developed and designed some of the most reliable products on the market with many units exceeding their expected lifespan through continuous improvement. Our research and development experience is reflected in long-lasting customer partnerships as well as successful products in unique and challenging reciprocating compressor applications.
We are committed to leading the field in advancing reciprocating compressor technology to enhance performance parameters and reliability for our customers. LMF Research and Development fully integrates state-of-the-art CAE software to accelerate the development process. In-depth thermodynamic and mechanical analyses of the machines allow us to provide highly efficient, economical, and reliable products over a wide range of operating points.
LMF research engineers take an interdisciplinary approach, contributing expertise across product lines and specialty applications. Our experienced team – including experts in numerical simulation, materials science, tribology, and process engineering – is dedicated to innovating solutions and advancing performance in even the most demanding applications, be it high pressures or flow rates, corrosive environments, or non-lubricated services.
Our manufacturing facility in Leobersdorf, Austria, also features extensive testing equipment to validate our compressor designs under real-life conditions. With different types of test-machines to choose from, we can accurately predict machine performance and durability in the field.
In our drive to innovate reciprocating compressor technology we cooperate with external research partners. These projects cover topics including advanced tribological studies, materials testing or life-cycle fatigue investigations under simulated operating conditions.
Our in-house software development allows LMF to create tailor-made engineering solutions that withstand the test of time. It enables us to provide purpose-built simulation and analysis tools to optimize engineering processes, and offers data-driven customer experiences.
LMF Research and Development is dedicated to the requirements of the customer and can support on special technical issues including questions about material compatibility, gas pulsations, mechanical strength, and thermal behavior. Thus, we apply our technological expertise to create more reliable and more efficient equipment.
